Houston, TX and Annapolis, MD / PRWeb /January 10, 2014—RadSite™, a leading accreditation organization promoting quality-based imaging practices, announces that Solis Women’s Health has received the Network Imaging Certification (NIC) Seal of Distinction. The NIC program opens the doors for RadSite certification to health plans, provider networks, and accountable care organizations that require their participating imaging providers to become certified pursuant to the RadSite Assessment Program (RAP).

“The diagnostic efficacy, quality, and safety of a radiology exam is critical to quality treatment of the patient,” says Eliot Siegel, MD, chairman of RadSite’s Accreditation Committee.  “RadSite’s new NIC program rewards health plans, imaging networks and others who are willing to promote better outcomes by utilizing the RAP standards and certification process within their business operations.”

Solis Women’s Health, the nation’s largest independent provider of breast imaging and its outstanding team of sub-specialized breast radiologists, remain focused on providing the highest quality of care for screening and diagnosis of breast cancer. “Our goal is always to deliver the most effective patient- focused screening and diagnosis while maintaining quality clinical outcomes,” notes Stephen L. Rose, MD, chief medical officer, Solis Women’s Health. “Solis is excited to partner with RadSite to help document their clinical excellence while continuing to focus on reaching higher levels of safety and efficacy.”

Solis Women’s Health earned the RadSite Seal of Distinction since it has successfully certified over 90% of its network providers. RadSite believes that mandating RAP for participating providers is a true testament to Solis’ commitment to quality in medical imaging.

“Our mission is focused on the practice of mammography along clinical research guidelines that clearly define the most accurate method for successfully diagnosing breast cancer as early as possible,” says James Polfreman, Solis chief executive officer. “The Network Imaging Certification quality seal is the latest accomplishment that distinguishes our organization as a leading provider of mammography services adhering to RadSite’s quality-based standards.”

To qualify for basic Network Imaging Certification, imaging networks must demonstrate that at least 70% of their network is certified through the RAP program. Those with a 90% network certification rate can achieve Network Imaging Certification with Distinction. While NIC certification applies to all provider types and places of service (e.g. physician offices, hospitals, and free-standing imaging facilities), networks may specialize by modality or market region to better suit their specific business needs.

RAP certifies imaging providers based on national standards and benchmarks that promote quality, safety and business efficiency practices.  Since 2005, RadSite has reviewed over 60,000 different imaging systems located at 24,000 imaging facilities across the United States. The new NIC program is designed to recognize payers who use RadSite to create and maintain a best-in-class imaging network.

“The NIC program is an important addition to RadSite’s mission to work with all stakeholders when promoting quality-based imaging,” remarks Garry Carneal, JD, MA, RadSite president & CEO.  “This empowers payors, provider networks, ACOs and others to create ‘smart networks’ and distinguish their organization in a competitive marketplace. No other accreditation agency offers a similar certification geared to the entity sponsoring the imaging network.”

RadSite offers an array of quality-based, cost-savings assessment, certification and accreditation programs that promote best practices in imaging and other specialty services across the United States and its territories. The comprehensive programs highlight opportunities for imaging facilities (including free-standing, hospital-based, and physician offices) to achieve a high level of quality that benefits all members of the health care continuum. RadSite offers insights and recommendations that not only can improve the quality of diagnostic imaging, but reduce the cost.  RadSite also offers educational and reporting services for health plans, imaging providers, regulators, consumers and others.
